How to choose a pool float that lasts
Most pool floats sold in Australia are printed PVC. They are cheap, they go sticky in the sun, and most look tired by the end of their second summer. Poolboy pool floats and loungers are built the other way round: solution-dyed Olefin fabric over a welded TPU bladder, priced against outdoor furniture rather than pool toys. Here is how to pick the right one.
Start with how you use the pool
If you want to lie flat and read, the Floata-Long is a full-length pool lounger for one, with a raised backrest that keeps your head clear of the water. If you would rather sit up with a drink in reach, the Floata-Round is a round pool float with a deep seat that sits you down into it. If the hottest days are the point, the Sinka-Bit is a floating hammock with an open mesh centre, so you sit half in the water and stay cool from underneath.
Check the size against your pool

Fabric, not PVC
Solution-dyed Olefin has the colour in the fibre rather than printed on the surface, so it holds its colour season after season. It stays cool to the touch, sheds water instead of soaking it up, and resists chlorine, salt, mould and mildew. The full story is on the materials page.
Looking after it
Rinse it with fresh water after a swim, let it dry, and store it dry over winter. That is the whole routine. More on the care page.

What is the difference between a pool lounger and a pool float? LYING OR SITTING
A pool lounger is built for lying flat, like a sun lounger on the water. A pool float is the broader term, and includes floats you sit in, like the Floata-Round, and floating hammocks, like the Sinka-Bit.
Are fabric pool floats better than PVC? FOR LONGEVITY, YES
A printed PVC float fades, goes sticky in the sun and is usually finished within two summers. Solution-dyed Olefin holds its colour, stays cool to the touch and feels like outdoor upholstery. It costs more up front, which is the trade.
